XR:WA 2023 Opens Today

Australia’s Leading Independent Film Festival

XR:WA 2023 Opens Today

It’s on again for 2023 and it opens today and it’s completely free!

For four days, XR:WA explores the dynamic and fascinating world of immersive technology across VR, AR, games and everything in between.

Featuring talks and presentations from local, national and international guests, the program includes sessions looking at pitching your ideas, building your business, what funding agencies are up to, working with music and soundscapes in VR and games, documentary in VR, building creative ecosystems, VR and immersive in architecture and engineering and a host of other meaty sessions.

On show on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 July, the WA Museum Boola Bardip will play host to around 30 local and international playable games, more than 30 new internationally acclaimed Augmented Reality works and around 20 VR experiences. These include international award winners and the local works are accompanied by the developers themselves.

We’re kicking off today with a free workshop session from 12-4.30pm examining the nature of ’the pitch’ with our international guest Jason Della Rocca followed by a full day of talks and workshops on Friday both at the WA State Library so we’d love to see you there.

Doors open and sessions start across the next four days at 10.30am-5pm, so if you're interested in these new and exciting forms, it’s all on offer for any and all ages. If a careerin games and immersive is for you, so is XR:WA.
