Westcliffe Digital Film Fest for digital & independant

NEXT WEEKEND - AUGUST 27-29
The Westcliffe Digital Film Festival –
a Truly Guerilla Film Festival
Featuring Truly Independent Films

The Westcliffe Digital Film Festival—a production of the Westcliffe Independent Film Association (WIFA), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization—is a unique festival that showcases the newest filmmakers who self-finance their vision and create truly independent feature and short films on digital video.

The festival will screen 17 DV films NEXT WEEKEND, Friday through Sunday, August 27-29 in the mountain town of Westcliffe (about 1.5 hours southwest of Colorado Springs).

It is different from most other film festivals--it has no sponsors, no gift bags, and no 4-star hotels (like Sundance and other Hollywood-lite festivals.)

And most importantly, 100% of the profits from the festival go back to the filmmakers in the form of grants!

Many of the filmmakers will be on hand at the festival to discuss their films and will be part of guest panel discussions on the new trends in cinema.

And there will be great parties to rub elbows with the filmmakers. Sangrita Restaurant, 212 Main Street, Westcliffe will be the location of Friday’s opening night party and Sunday’s closing brunch. A BBQ is set for Saturday outside the All Aboard Westcliffe Train Depot, 110 Rosita Avenue, Westcliffe.

Screenings will take place at the All Aboard Westcliffe Train Depot, 110 Rosita Avenue, Westcliffe. And Saturday night features an outdoor screening under the stars against the backdrop of the 14,000’ peaks of the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains.

Sunday’s award brunch will present the Michael Moore Best Documentary Feature Award and the John Sayles Best Narrative Short Award. In addition, an Audience Award will also be presented.

The festival is inspired by the independent filmmakers of today like Richard Linklater, Robert Rodriguez, the Coen Brothers, Jon Jost, Woody Allen, Wim Wenders, Steven Soderbergh, Jim Jarmusch and David Lynch, Pedro Almodovar, Greg Araki, John Cassavetes, Julio Medem, Atom Egoyan, Mike Figgis, Neil LaBute, Michael Moore, John Salyes and the directors of the French New Wave (or La Nouvelle Vague) of the 1950's (Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut, Eric Rohmer)—filmmakers who demand and maintain full creative control over their films.
