BRIEF TENDER LIGHT documents the inspiring stories of four African students at MIT, who are determined to bring positive change to Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe. Over nearly a decade, the film intimately captures their challenges, growth, and dilemmas. As they pursue education and dreams on two continents, they must reconcile their teenage ideals with the realities they encounter about the world and themselves. The documentary showcases the quest for knowledge, cultural identity, and the profound impact of their choices on Africa and America.

given by the award-winning historian Margaret Newell as she reveals how New England slavery began with the Pequot War and the enslavement of Indigenous people. She will be joined by Joshua Carter, executive director of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center and Michael Thomas, member of the board of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and former chair of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council.
