Walk the Line, Johny Cash hit musical to preview in Capri

Walk the Line, the new hit musical film about the life of American country singing legend Johnny Cash, will be previewed in Italy at the Capri, Hollywood – Kimbo Coffee International Film Festival December 27-31, 2005 on the Isle of Capri. James Mangold’s film and Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Cash, are leading candidates for Oscar recognition early next year.
The festival will feature the presentation of three 2005 Capri Music Awards to:

American director Taylor Hackford for Ray, his film biography of singer Ray Charles;

Italian singer Biagio Antonacci for an extraordinary season that took him to the World Music Awards at the Kodak Theater of Hollywood alongside other stars such as Carlos Santana, Mariah Carey, Alanis Morisette, John Bon Jovi and Destiny’s Child, where he was honored as Italy’s top-selling recording star; and
Rosalino Cellamare, who is sometimes credited as Ron, for his role in creating But When You Say Love with a group of great Italian musicians and the magazine of the newspaper Corriere della Sera as a benefit for AISLA, the Italian association fighting Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Past Capri Music Awards have been presented to Luciano Pavarotti, Renato Carosone, Tony Renis, Gino Paoli, Mogol, Edoardo Bennato, Simply Red, A Ha and Goran Bregovic.
Capri, Hollywood 2005 is produced in collaboration with Caffe Kimbo, Acqua Lete, and Harmont & Blaine, and with sponsorship of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Assets, the Campania Region, the Chamber of Commerce of Naples, Cinecittà Holding and RAI Trade.

Among artists who will attend the 10th anniversary edition of Capri, Hollywood are directors Terry Gilliam, Shekhar Kapur, Martha Fiennes and Roberto Faenza, and actors Max Von Sydow (winner of a Capri-Lete Legend Award) and Maria Grazia Cucinotta, honored with co-producers Chiari Tilesi and Stefano Veneruso, for the film All The Invisibile Children. The film about the plight of seven children was directed by Spike Lee, John Woo, Ridley Scott, Jordan Scott, Emir Kusturica, Stefano Veneruso, Katia Lund and Mehdi Charef with support from the Ministry of Italians Abroad. It will benefit the World Food Program of UNICEF.

The festival will be previewed on Friday, December 2, at 11:30 a.m. at the Martini Terrace of Milan by Pascal Vicedomini, secretary general of Capri in the World Institute; Marco di Lello, Tourism Council official for the Campania Region; and actor Franco Nero, international ambassador of the Capri association.
