The awards ceremony marked the closing of the third and final stage of the activities proposed in this edition of VENTURA, which included, over the course of several months, three distinctive phases in its training programme. 

The first stage, which took place between 11th and 15th December 2023, consisted of an online professional training programme for the producers of the five selected Spanish projects. 

In the second stage, which took place between 15th and 19th January, the directors of these projects took part in an intensive writing residency led by Argentine filmmaker Mariano Llinás. "Contrary to what tends to happen, it was very useful for all of us to deconstruct our own certainties about cinema. And it's good that this happens because in general residencies tend to be the opposite, as disciplinaries where people go to be told what they have to do to get their films into certain markets," explains Llinás.

The third and final stage took place from 19th to 22nd January, during two days of intensive work in which all the participants were able to present their projects to the jury and a select group of professionals from the national and international audiovisual industry.

The ten projects selected from more than three hundred applications that participated in this second edition were:

A Mão, directed by Alexander David and produced by André Gil Mata; Anoush et les Vagabonds, directed by Valérie Massadian and produced by Sophie Erbs; Ari (Harakune), by director Maider Oleaga; Impossible Scénario, la Mort de Virgile directed and produced by Mitra Farahani; La mala gent, directed by Amat Vallmajor and produced by Julieta Juncadella and Silvia Cruz; Mer, Étoile, Femme, directed by Jeunghae Yim and produced by Helen Olive and Martin Bertier; Querer vivir un grito directed by Diana Toucedo and produced by Alba Sotorra and Andrea Vázquez; Se van sus naves, directed by Óscar Vincentelli and produced by Elisa Celda; Three Serious Ladies, directed and produced by Athina Rachel Tsangari and Todo es cárcel directed by Eloy Enciso and produced by Marina Perales and Fran Ruvira.
