Unveiled awarded the "Hessischer Filmpreis"

UNVEILED awarded the "Hessischer Filmpreis" during the Frankfurt Bookfair

Media Luna Entertainment awarded the director Angelina Maccarone whose film UNVEILED won the "Hessischer Filmpreis" during the Frankfurt Bookfair on Friday, October 21st. Among 30 other films in the competition, UNVEILED was awarded as Best Feature Film of the year.

The film is a political drama and touching love story between two women, starring Jasmin Tabatabai and Anneke Kim Sarnau. Prosecuted in Iran for her homosexuality, Fariba searches for asylum in Germany. This being refused to her, she has to hide and to distrust everyone she meets. UNVEILED is about the longing for identity and the possiblities of love in times of exile and prosecution. The production of MMM Film Zimmermann & Co. GmbH is theatrically released in Germany by Ventura Film Berlin from this week. The film has so far been sold to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and North America.

Consequently, Media Luna intensifies their cooperation with Maccarone and agrees to marketing rights worldwide for two of her new projects, VIVERE and HOUNDED (working title).

VIVERE will be produced by Elsani Film, Cologne with support from the Filmstiftung NRW. Shooting starts in March 2006. In this drama-roadmovie, the two female protagonists Francesca and Gerlinde (played by Hannelore Elsner and Jessica Schwarz) feel the burden of responsibility for the lives of other people. Francesca, a taxi-driver, not only tries to save her little sister's junkie boyfriend but also runs into lovesick Gerlinde who is considering committing suicide. While trying to save the others, the women finally save themselves.

The second project is Maccarone's HOUNDED, currently in post-production (also produced by MMM Film Zimmermann & Co. GmbH, Hamburg). The story is about Elsa, a forty-nine-year-old woman whose life is based on her job and her
family. After her daughter leaves the parental home, everything in her daily routine starts to crumble. Elsa finds herself in an obsessive sexual encounter with a sixteen-year-old boy and has to face her own relentless desires.
