Tribeca NY and NY Narrative Feature selections announced

24 World Premieres Included in The New York Films competition

Tribeca Film Festival founders Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff joined Peter Scarlet, executive director, in announcing the two categories of feature films to be presented in competition at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival. The two categories, NY, NY Narrative Features and NY, NY Documentary Features, capture the diverse perspectives of living and experiencing New York and include 24 world premieres. The jurors for both competitions will be announced at a later date.
The New York Narrative film competition presents New York stories ranging from dramas dealing with lost love and post 9/11 grief, to suburban tales, slapstick comedies, and films that use the Republican National Convention as their backdrop.
The New York Documentaries include stories about gentrification, portraits of New York icons, and politically and socially conscious films.

Awards in the four competition sections will be presented in the following categories: Best Narrative Feature, Best New Narrative Filmmaker, Best Documentary Feature, Best New Documentary Filmmaker, Best Actress in a Narrative Feature Film, Best Actor in a Narrative Feature Film, Best NY, NY Narrative Feature and Best NY, NY Documentary Feature. Additional Festival awards include the Audience Award for Best Feature Film, Audience Award for Best Family Short, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, and the Student Visionary Award.
