Trento international mountain film festival turns 60

From 26 April to 6 May 2012 Trento will once again host the international mountain film festival. Following last year’s success, the sixtieth festival promises to be fantastic considering the events and the guests who will participate.
The undisputed star: the mountain in all its forms.

The 60th TrentoFilmfestival is preparing an explosive celebration for this special anniversary in 2012, packed with events and outstanding personalities, protagonists of the programme in the process of being finalized in these days. A great festival that will begin officially on 26 April and end on Sunday 6 May 2012. From documentaries to short and full-length films, plus the time-honoured pleasure of reading a book; the life and soul of the 2012 Trentofilmfestival will mix adrenaline and surprise, creating those special emotions that have been the norm in Trento for sixty years.
Film-makers all over the world (almost 360 participated in 2011) are therefore called to take up their telecamera again to narrate and record the wonderful world of nature at high altitudes and capture its silences and secrets that we will be able to appreciate during the days of the Festival. All the films produced will be judged by an international jury that will have the difficult task of awarding the coveted prizes listed in the festival.

The prizes are:
The Gran Premio “Città di Trento” – Gold Gentian – for the best film of all, possessing high artistic qualities, that corresponds to the cultural aims pursued by the Festival.
The Italian Alpine Club Prize – Gold Gentian – for the best film on mountains and mountaineering.
The City of Bolzano Prize – Gold Gentian – for the best film on mountain sports, exploration or adventure.
The Jury Prize
The "Luciano Emmer" Prize awarded by the board of the National Union of Italian Film Journalists (SNGCI).
The two audience prizes, for a full-length film and a mountaineering film, with the three Silver Gentians (for the best technical-artistic contribution; the best medium-length film; the best short) complete the official prize-list.

The final date to enter your films (docufilms, short, full and medium-length, fiction) in the 60th TrentoFilmfestival is 31 January 2012 for films produced in 2010 and in 2011. The deadline for those produced in 2012 is instead 29 February 2012. You can find the regulations for the 2012 Festival on the Internet site www.trentofestival.it.

Not only films at the TrentoFilmfestival. The 26th “MontagnaLibri”, the international review of mountain publications, is also scheduled to open on 26 April 2012. A review that for over a quarter of a century has been entirely dedicated to those who put down on paper the unique emotion aroused by the great “cathedrals of the earth” and the “great days” (the expression of the unforgettable deceased Walter Bonatti) experienced on the most difficult walls. The regulations of the 2012 MontagnaLibri are also downloadable from the site www.trentofestival.it.
