Tiburon ready to kick

4th Annual Tiburon International Film Festival
March 10-18, 2005

Tiburon (California): At its 4th edition, the Tiburon International Film Festival will screen 270 films from over 60 countries, including four tributes: One to great Orson Welles (Citizen Kane) with F For Fake (Saturday, March 12, 2005 @ 07:30 PM) and a special program with his longtime cameraman, Gary Graver, who will show never seen film clips with lots of anecdotes (Saturday, March 12, 2005 at 2:40 pm).

Second, to Sam Pekinpah, another great American director, and to bring the Western genre back again by showing "Pekinpah's West” (Sunday, March 13 @ 3:00 pm).

Third, a tribute to Malcolm McDowell, one of the finest actors today of such films as: A Clockwork Orange, O Lucky Man, If....We will show A Clockwork Orange (Saturday, March 12 @ 8:30 pm) and his latest film "Evilenko" (Friday, March 11 @ 7 pm).

And the fourth to the Motion Pictures Stuntmen, with a group of top stuntmen working in the industry today in person! (Saturday, March 12 @ 10:45 am).

The opening film is "Happy Hour" starring Anthony LaPaglia, Eric Stoltz, Caroleen Feeney and Robert Vaughn with the cast and crew in person on Thursday, March 10 @ 7 pm @ the Tiburon Playhouse Theater (40 Main Street), with a reception to follow after the screening @ the Corinthian Yacht Club, also on Main Street. Jeremy Cohen’s Violin Jazz Quartet will perform with a group of belly dancers from one of our films American Belly Dancer!

We will show a collection of films made by Marin County filmmakers titled "Marin Filmmakers," a first program of its kind. The films are: Angle of Inspiration (Director: John Antonelli), Birth Day (Director: Diana Paul), The Cold War? (Director: Bill Henderson), The Hook (Director: Hughes Wisniewski), Imaginary Girls (Director: Jordan Livingston), The Math Tutor (Director: Greg Johnson)

A Spotlight on Cuba, with nine of their latest films: Mother Cuba, By the Sea, Tracing Che, Paradise, Cuba Libre, Che: The Sweet Dream of Cane, I Can’t, I live In Cuba, Dame La Mano, Cuba: Island of Music...

We will show several films related to the present situation in the Middle East between Palestinians and Israelis, with such films as: Behind Enemy Lines, Death in Gaza....as well as the situation in Iraq with a first documentary film made by the Iraqi filmmakers titled: The Dreams of Sparrows .....and several films from and about Iran: 20 Fingers, Chosen, Dead Heat Under the Shrubs, Deadlines, Duel, Epitaph, Tehran 7 am, Those in Black, Utopia ...

For the music lovers, we will show: Being Pavarotti, A Lion's Trail, Pulse, A Stomp Odyssey, Tap Heat, Cuba: Island of Music...

For the sports fans, we will show: Superstars (US) an inside look at the top basketball players, Never Been Done (US) the story of a one-legged skater, She Got Game (Canada) a behind the scene look at women's pro tennis, Hot Chocolate (US) about a team of cross country skateboarding trek, Somewhere Anywhere Everywhere (US) about a traveling surfing group, Blue Horizon (Australia) about surfing adventures around the world....

For the young adults, we show a number of films from all over the world including: Her Majesty (New Zealand ), Clipping Adam (Canada), Sevens Eleven (US), 200 Dirhams (Morocco)....

For those who love animation and find this art form delightful, we will show: Andy (US), Chohon (Korea), Fever (US), Flyaway (US), Vent (Netherlands), Contrapunto (US)....

We will have a Filmmakers' Panel about the challenges and issues of independent film making today, with Myra Paci (director of "Searching for Paradise"...) Samir Seif (Egyptian director of such films as: Streets of Fire...)....and others.

We will show a series of Jewish films made by the very talented filmmakers from all over the world. Films like: Behind Enemy Lines, NO 17, Kings of the Hill....

For those who follow the current events, we will show: Rush to War (US) an examination of the issues surrounding September 11th and American foreign policy.....
