The online festival

The Sundance Institute launched the Fourth Annual Sundance Online Film Festival (SOFF) at www.sundance.org. This year’s Online Festival features 30 short films and interactive projects, and hours of new footage highlighting the activities and history of the Sundance Film Festival and Sundance Institute. Included in the new content are interviews with Sundance Film Festival programmers and Sundance Institute staff, behind-the-scenes looks at Institute programs, trailers from past Film Festivals, and highlights from the 2003 Sundance Film Festival Awards Ceremony. The 2004 Sundance Online Film Festival runs until February 15, 2004.

The Sundance Online Film Festival includes films in three categories: Animation, Short Subject, and New Forms Gallery.

New content for this year’s Sundance Online Film Festival includes the following:

• SUNDANCE SPEAKS: Featuring Sundance founder Robert Redford and many of the Festival programmers, this section is a special addition to the Online Festival. With candid, personal insights, the Festival programmers speak about the Sundance Film Festival and the creation of the Online Film Festival, as well as the rationales behind this year’s film selections.

• The TRAILER PARK is the only Internet source for the 2004 Sundance Film Festival trailer and memorable Festival trailers from past Sundance Film Festivals .

• The SHORT FILM SHOWCASE is a program of short films that are screening in the 2004 Sundance Film Festival. This program is back by popular demand and is a great opportunity to experience the Sundance Film Festival as it happens simultaneously in Park City.

• AWARDS NIGHT is a collection of highlights from the 2003 Sundance Film Festival Awards Ceremony. Get a glimpse of the recent award winners , many of whose films were highlights of the 2003 film scene.

• BEHIND THE SCENES will introduce the many faces of the Sundance Institute to audiences world-wide. The Festival is the most well-known aspect of the Sundance Institute, but the Institute’s year-round programs, workshops, and special events, support the development of some of the independent film and theatre world’s most interesting new artists and work.

• The WINNER’S CIRCLE segment of the Online Festival showcases the past three years of SOFF winners, all of which were created by directors who continue to surprise and delight global audiences through their web-based work.

• From the red-carpet to Main Street, the new PHOTO ALBUM and SUNDANCE WIRED section, brings the images of the Sundance Film Festival to computers of people around the world.
