The Hawaii International Film Festival's line up

Roll out the red carpet, The Hawaii International Film Festival's (HIFF) fall film lineup is officially here! With 214 films this fall season, HIFF is honored to present three of the most highly anticipated films of the year as its opening, centerpiece, and closing films. Included with these landmark films, HIFF has selected a broad range of other films that cover timely subject matter that involve us in a local, national and international level, ranging from sustainability to preservation (GREEN SCREEN), the state of the local film industry (MADE IN HAWAII), the convergence of film and music (SOUND x VISION), and ethics and struggles in life (FILM FOR THOUGHT).

In addition, there are new spotlights on the India and Philippines cinema, the festival within a festival with EuroCinema Hawaii, and the extension of Extreme Asia and Midnight Dark programs to the growing popularity of AFTER DARK. Breaking new ground this year are the AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD which will be announced via Hawaii News Now, and the LOCAL SHORT FILM AWARD which will be taking votes online through GOEGGIT.com.

Perennial sections like the HALEKULANI GOLDEN ORCHID AWARDS for Best Feature and Documentary, GALA PRESENTATIONS, unveiling high profile films gunning for the awards season, SPOTLIGHT ON JAPAN, NEW CHINESE CINEMA, SPOTLIGHT ON KOREA, and a celebration of American Immigrant filmmakers with the AMERICAN IMMIGRANT FILMMAKERS ON PROFILE section are also featured.
