The Green Bay Film Festival ready to launch

The Green Bay Film Festival has announced a full lineup with over 120 films to play March 23-25, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel and Convention Center. The Festival will include 14 feature films and over 100 shorts from all over the world.

"We've had an amazing response from filmmakers to be a part of the 2nd Annual Green Bay Film Festival," said Cyndee Sweetland, Festival Director.  "Just under 400 films were submitted which gave us a great selection to choose from. Over 50 percent of the films will be world premieres and many of the filmmakers will be attending to share their films with our audiences."

Friday's opening screening of "On The Ice," an engrossing and suspenseful feature film debut by filmmaker Andrew Okpeaha MacLean; followed by an opening night party, will kick off the weekend's events. Michelle Danforth, representing Oneida Nation, a festival sponsor noted that "On The Ice has won 7 awards and has played at Sundance, Tribecca and the Berlin Film Festival.  This film raises the level of the event to a whole new level."

The Green Bay Film Festival will be showcasing films from as far away as Australia, as well as incredibly talented local filmmakers.  Jessica Diederich, Film Festival Planning Committee Member said, "the festival will also be providing a platform for local talent and thus contribute to further strengthening the film industry in Wisconsin."

Saturday's events include film showings all day, seminars on both screenwriting and film production which are free to the public, a block of short films from our Children & Family category, and an evening of feature films selected to entice our film lovers, thriller lovers and music lovers.

The event will continue Sunday and end with a feature presentation of the Future Filmmaker Contest, followed by the Audience Choice and Best of Show Awards Ceremony.

Tickets for the festival go on sale March 1, and will be priced at $5 per showing.  Moviegoers may also purchase an all-access pass or an opening night movie/party pass.

Festival director, Cyndee Sweetland, said "Our team has worked hard to produce an incredible film program that will establish the Green Bay Film Festival as a valued stage for upcoming filmmakers, as well as become a long-lasting event for the Green Bay community."

A full listing of programs is available at http://www.gbfilmfestival.org/.  Tickets are available for pre-purchase on the website and will also be available at the door.

The Green Bay Film Festival is currently looking for volunteers for all shifts.  Please visit the website for more information.

The mission of the Green Bay Film Festival is to provide a rich cultural experience for our community and visitors while promoting Green Bay as a hub for filmmaking and film appreciation.
