The End of the Pier International Film Festival

The End of the Pier International Film Festival is:

A competition for independent low budget short and feature films.

It aims to generate as much exposure as possible for young and independent films makers.

The 2009 Gala will be held on 24th April at the Dome Cinema Function Rooms.

In 2009 the festival will be holding the competitive screenings in Worthing, using the Ritz Cinema at the Connaught, (The Dome and Pavilion will also be used as venues).

In 2009 the event will be presenting some 40 awards to both individual and category winners at the prestigious Award Evening on May 2nd at the Pavilion Theatre.

There will be a wide range of film related activities taking place during the festival week, including master classes, demonstrations and lectures by leading practitioners from the Television and Film Industries.

There will also be a wide reaching programme, for all ages, of feature and other films (including the ‘Best of the Festival’ shorts) screened at venues across the central south from Brighton to Southampton.

New for 2009 will be the Young Film Maker’s Event at the Pavilion Theatre on Sunday the 26th April.

New for 2009 a Script Writing Competition has been introduced.

New for 2009 is the Festival Partnership Programme where the event works in conjunction with other agencies and cinema venues to create more opportunities for independent film makers to exhibit their work.

New team for 2009: Festival Director Bryan Gartside warmly welcomes
a number of new members to the eotp team, including: Keith, Linda and Ian from Worthing and Alison from Littlehampton. Also, Michael Cowan, founder of Spice Factory Brighton. Michael brings with him a wealth of relationships in the global film business and will focus to help build eotp into a fun, edgy and international film festival – that the South really needs.

Key events: The Gala, the Young Film Maker’s Event, European Day Wednesday April 29th ( in conjunction with our European film festival partners), and the glittering red carpet Awards Ceremony.

Festival Quotes:

“Your festival has great reputation from this end... I spend much more time working on my movies than networking but I have only heard and read positive things about the End of Pier experience.”

“You have my greatest respects. I can only imagine how tough it must be running, programming, and growing a quality fest - maybe a bit like making a feature film!”

Kely McClung Director USA

"Receiving two awards from the End of Pier Int. FF for Best Director and Best Film in 2008, was a huge honour. The festival is truly dedicated to celebrating new and emerging talent, providing a vital platform for directors such as myself, to showcase our work and forge great relationships with other talents."

Vicki Psarias winner Best Short Drama ‘Broken’, and Best Director ‘Broken’ 2008

“We are pleased to inform you that thanks to the support from the End of the Pier festival, WHO IS KK DOWNEY had the highest per screen average in Canada last weekend!! That is quite an accomplishment for a small indie and we owe all the credit to you! The film has been renewed at the AMC Pepsi Forum in Montreal, so if you haven't had the chance, check it out this week!”

Kidnapper Films USA

“Since wining the award last year, things have been going very well. I have started my own design company and we are specialising in 3D work. We are currently working for Shell and have a new ad’ for Listerine.. We are also doing more music videos and are waiting for Sony to pick a song for us to produce.”

Neil Horner
Previous eotp Award Winner

“After the End of the Pier, the film won three additional awards in the UK and Europe and hopefully there is more to come. This year I had the chance to attend a number of prestigious film festivals including Saint Maur in Paris, one of the eotp‘s European partner festivals. Since graduating it was difficult for me to make any big steps in the film industry. However, after wining at the eopt it gave me the confidence and continue,. Young film makers need the opportunities the eotp provides to bring them closer to the film industry.”

Orfeas Peretzis. Previous eotp Award Winer.
