The Baby Formula to open Mannheim-Heidelberg Fest

With International Premiere „The Baby Formula“ and Canadian filmmaker Alison Reid, the 57th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg will celebrate its opening night in Heidelberg on Thursday, 6 November 2008. The film is one out of 19 feature films by international newcomer directors competing for the Main Award of Mannheim-Heidelberg. The complete selection with an overview of all films in International Competition, in the International Discoveries section and the sidebars will be published by mid October.

About the film
Athena and Lillith are in love. Like most couples they would love to have a child, their own flesh and blood. However, nature has not designed two women to conceive from each other. Only experimental science can help here. The miracle happens. A rather crazy family story about the overwhelming desire to have children.

About the film director Alison Reid
Filmmaker Alison Reid spends a lot of time jumping from high buildings, getting involved in car crashs, getting shot or running past exploding buildings – a stunt woman and coordinator she has worked with many Hollywood productions (“Blues Brothers 2000”, „X- Men“). With „The Baby Formula“, she hit the mark at first go in the arthouse arena.

The 57th International Filmfestival Mannheim-Heidelberg takes place from 6 to 16 November 2008.
