"Tanghi Argentini" wins Munich film festival

The Belgian competitor "Tanghi Argentini" by Guy Thys receives the award of the 2008 MUNICH INTERNATIONAL short film festival, being granted Kodak film material for his next project. In this 13 minute modern fairy tale, office clerk André (Dirk van Dijck) tries to make his colleagues happy despite the faceless and cold atmosphere at their work place. Instead of the classical cliché Christmas gifts, he wants to give his colleagues something real and precious. More information on the winning film can be found at http://www.muc-intl.de/2008/tanghiargentini.html

The organizers Munich Filmwerkstatt and CommClub Munich and the partner cinema Mathaeser positively summed up this year's edition of the MUNICH INTERNATIONAL short film festival. Festival helmer Martin Blankemeyer: "We are extremely content! Although there were highly attractive alternative events taking place, our screenings were well attended and the feedback of the audience was better than positive. We could fulfill our aspiration to the full extent, offering our spectators insights both new and inspiring, enlarging their horizons. Munich based transportation service company Interkep allowed us by bearing the expensive transport to screen - for the first time - most of the films in competition from regular 35mm prints. With our new partners Abendzeitung and kompleXmedia and with an important increase of Media Coverage on Press, Radio and TV, we were able to lift our festival to a new level." Hence, the organizers look optimistically towards 2009, were the festival will take place at the Gloria Palast again from June 18 to 24. The films and all other information will be announced in time at www.muc-intl.de.
