Given the sad news made public today September 19th 2011 of the imminent suspension of Punto de Vista Documentary Film Festival in Pamplona: directors, programmers, film critics and institutions want to show our unconditional support to the people who for over seven years have made of this festival a point of reference in national and international film scene.

Pamplona's Punto de Vista is a unique place for meeting, exchanging thoughts and learning to those who live and understand cinema as necessary cultural value and as a lifestyle.

We know that we are passing through critical economical moments but this is precisely the reason why initiatives such as Punto de Vista are more than necessary:

1 .- This festival takes care of an exceptional and impeccable programming, audiences, directors, films and proposals that would not otherwise place in our country.

2 .- It promotes a whole generation of directors / as they have found a reference in the festival and a platform on which to present their work.

3 .- It serves to promote awareness and critical attitude of his audience, reviving civic potential and cultivating a sense of responsibility.

For all these reasons we demand the continuation of Punto de Vista Film Festival. We urge the authorities to reflect on their responsibility towards the culture and the citizens for which they work. We strongly believe that there has not been a serious consideration on the significance of this project and expect that a change in your attitude will rectify the decision.
