Stubbornly Independent at Tallgrass Film Festival

The Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA) and Tallgrass Film Festival today announced the theme for the 2008 Tallgrass Film Festival: Stubbornly Independent. “This year we were seeking a theme that would acknowledge the upcoming presidential election as well as express the focus of the festival while giving a nod to the unconventional spirit of the people of Kansas,” said Festival Director Lela Meadow-Conner. “I think Stubbornly Independent says it all.”
To celebrate the 2008 theme, an online contest will be held. Film festival fans around the world will have the opportunity to win an Extended Weekend of Relentless Revelry in downtown Wichita during the Tallgrass Film Festival, Oct. 23-26, 2008. Included in the prize package are a three-night stay at a luxury hotel in downtown Wichita; $150 in dining certificates from downtown restaurants; two All-Access passes to Tallgrass Film Festival, including all VIP events; $300 in gift certificates from Old Town, Downtown and Delano merchants; and courtesy transportation to and from the hotel to the Tallgrass Film Festival site. The total value of the festival vacation package is $1,500. Ten additional winners will each receive six general admission tickets to film screenings during the festival.
Those who wish to enter the contest can do so by visiting www.stubbornlyindependent.com and filling out a brief survey. Contact information will not be shared with any other company or organization. The winner of the Extended Weekend of Relentless Revelry will be announced on September 19. Artwork for the 2008 festival poster has been created by Wichita artist, Brad Ruder of Tagent Lab.
