Stockholm International Film Festival will take place between November 18th and November 28th. The Festival celebrates its 15th edition by screening 170 films from more than forty countries.
In its 15th season, the Festival retains its focus on young and innovative filmmakers. In the competitive section we will be screening directors’ first, second or third feature films competing for the festivals main prize, the Bronze Horse Award.

Oliver Stone is the recipient of this year’s Stockholm Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be in Stockholm to accept the prestigious Bronze Horse, in a prize ceremony on November 25th. Oliver Stone will be available for press interviews. His latest film Alexander, will have its European premiere at the Festival.

Director and screenwriter Todd Solondz is the recipient of the first Stockholm Visionary Award, a new prize established to encourage the work, visions and achievements of contemporary filmmakers. Solondz will be presented with the prize at the Film Festival’s Face2Face on November 19th and will be available for press interviews. Solondz’s latest film Palindromes, will have its Nordic premiere at the Festival.

This year’s spotlight is Japanese Anime, where we focus on contemporary, cutting edge anime film from Japan. One of the films in this category is Mamoru Oshii’s Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.

In our Face2Face the audience will have the chance to meet directors, producers and actors for questions and discussions.

Stockholm XV Competition The competition is designed for new directors whose first, second or third film offers challenging, innovative and uncompromising filmmaking from some of our most visionary, contemporary debut-talents.
Short Film Competition Competitive category for short films on 35 mm.
Open Zone You will encounter established filmmakers from all over the world in this category.
American Independents New independent feature films presenting a different view of America.
Asian Images A broad selection of films from one of the world’s most prolific film areas. It stretches from Iran in the west to Japan in the east.
Northern Lights A category focusing on film from the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. A jury appointed by the international critics organization FIPRESCI will select this year’s best contribution.
Spotlight: Japanese anime - This year’s spotlight is japanese anime, where we focus on contemporary, cutting edge anime film from Japan.
Stone by Stone Stockholm’s 15th International Film Festival is honoring Oliver Stone (USA), director and producer with the Stockholm Lifetime Achivement Award. Stone has chosen five of his own films in this category.
Stockholm Visionary Award Director and screenwriter Todd Solondz is the recipient of the first Stockholm Visionary Award. Solondz’s latest film Palindromes, will be screened in this section.
Twilight Zone Enter into an exploratory excursion into the future of film sub-culture.
Collage This category will show contributions that reflect contemporary trends in innovative and experimental documentaries and television productions.
15 The Festival A²Best of²-section to celebrate the Festival’s 15th anniversary. One classic film from each year from 1990-2003 will be screened in this section.
Dedication This year’s festival is dedicated to Marlon Brando.
