Spicy autumn in London at the 17th Latin American Film Festival

The 17th Latin American Film Festival
9 - 18 November 2007

Spicing up London’s autumn, this year’s Latin American Film Festival comes with a mind-blowing and breathtaking programme of Latin America’s latest and most daring films ensuring that Britain’s film enthusiasts will enjoy the maximum Latin experience.

Presenting the world premiere EL Brindis (The Toast), a dazzling yet startling Chilean/Mexican co-production by the Chilean director Shai Agosin and UK premieres such as La Antena (The Aerial), a stunning amalgam of comic books and ’20s-era science fiction, by the Argentinean Esteban Sapir, and the recent Cuban production Che Guevara donde nunca jamás se lo imaginan (Che Guevara as you have never seen him before) by Manuel Pérez Paredes the Cuban-born director of the festival Eva Tarr Kirkhope guarantees the showcasing of the latest releases from some of Latin America’s foremost short films, documentaries and features. Screenings will be held at the Curzon cinemas Renoir and Mayfair.

With her Latin spirit and temperament Eva plunges the 17th Festival again into the right atmosphere making it the place to be in November. Her motivation and contribution to the enrichment of London’s cultural life was rewarded with the London Day 2001 award.

The Latin American Film Festival served as the European steppingstone for world famous features such as Buena Vista Social Club by Wim Wenders in
1999 and the Mexican film Cronos, by Guillermo del Toro in 1993.

The Latin American Film Festival was the winner of Latin Excellence 2005 awarded by Express News.

“Sunshine, colour, music and magic: short of going on holiday the only place you’re guaranteed to find all of them is in this well-supported festival.” The Guardian

“Quite the coolest way to spend your precious time.” The Evening Standard
