Sony Tropfest 2004 in Sydney, Melbourne...

HOOK UP FOR SONY TROPFEST 2004!
The largest of short film festivals is on its way, so grab a picnic blanket, “HOOK” up with some good friends and prepare to be amused, surprised and entertained at Sony Tropfest, Sunday 22 February 2004.

This summer will see the return of Australia’s largest short film festival to audiences nationwide. Get hooked on the drama, the entertainment and the hilarity of the short films created specifically for Australia’s unadulterated viewing pleasure!

All short films submitted must be no longer than seven minutes and include the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI), to show the film was made specifically for Sony Tropfest. The TSI for 2004 is “Hook!” - so get ready to hook in … hook up … and fall hook line and sinker for the amazing short film talent that Australia has to offer.

As well as showcasing the 16 best short films from the competition, Sony Tropfest is a full summer day of entertainment, featuring live acts, a panel of celebrity judges and an awards ceremony, with simultaneous satellite screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane and Perth.

Sony Tropfest gives audiences the opportunity to be the first to taste the early works of the leading Australian filmmakers of tomorrow. The festival has long been regarded as an incubator for the country’s premiere filmmaking talent, and in its 11-year history has seen acclaimed directors such as Gregor Jordan (Two Hands, Ned Kelly, Buffalo Soldiers) and Paul Fenech (Fat Pizza) come through the festival ranks.

No summer diary is complete without Sony Tropfest, so make note now to get there early, grab a great spot on the grass and prepare for the ultimate outdoor festival experience.
