SRETAN PUT NEDIME (Good Luck Nedim)

The Prix UIP is an initiative by UIP and the European Film Academy in co-operation with fourteen festivals throughout Europe. Each prize includes a financial donation of EUR 2,000 and an automatic nomination in the short film category of the European Film Awards 2006.

The winner was selected by a special festival jury consisting of Jytte Jensen, film and media curator at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Susan Weeks Coulter, president of the Global Film Initiative, and Serbian director Stefan Arsenijević.

SRETAN PUT NEDIME is Marko Šantić’s first short fiction film. It joins ten other films that have already been nominated:

DELIVERY by Till Nowak (Germany) at the Flanders International Film Festival Ghent
VINCENT by Giulio Ricciarelli (Germany) at the Valladolid International Film Festival
PISTACHE by Valérie Pirson (France) at the Premiers Plans – Festival d’Angers,
MEANDER by Joke Liberge (Belgium) at the International Film Festival Rotterdam
EL CERCO by Ricardo Íscar & Nacho Martín (Spain) at the Berlin International Film Festival
BEFORE DAWN by Bálint Kenyeres (Hungary) at the Tampere Short Film Festival FOR INTÉRIEUR by Patrick Poubel (France) at the Cracow Film Festival
SNIFFER by Bobbie Peers (Norway) at the Norwegian Short Film Festival Grimstad
BY THE KISS by Yann Gonzalez (France) at the Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival
ZAKARIA by Gianluca and Massimiliano De Serio at the Edinburgh International Film Festival

The remaining nominees will be selected in co-operation with:

Venice International Film Festival (Italy),
Short Film Festival in Drama (Greece)
Cork Film Festival (Ireland).

Once all nominations have been selected, the 1,700 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the overall winner who will be presented during the European Film Awards on December 2 in Warsaw and will receive a donation of EUR 10,000.
