Sacramento Film Fest to welcome Samir Guesmi

Samir Guesmi, director of C'est dimanche ! (It's Sunday!- 30 min) to be presented on Opening Night, Friday 18th - 8:30pm, prior to OSS 117: Le Caire nid d'espions (OSS 117: Cairo Nest of Spies). He will be available for interviews Thursday July 16th & Friday July 17th.

We are proud to announce that French director Samir Guesmi will attend the first weekend of the 7th Sacramento French Film Festival. will attend the Sacramento French Film Festival.
In addition to being a film director, Samir Guesmi is an actor. He was awarded the Michel Simon Prize and the Best Actor Prize in Amiens for his role in Malik le maudit by youcef Hamidile. Throughout his career, Samir Guesmi was directed by major French filmmakers such as Bruno Podalydès, Arnaud Desplechin, Nicole Garcia, Agnès Jaoui, Claude Miller, Tonie Marshall, etc. He is also a stage actor and is currently rehearsing the leading role in William Shakespeare's Othello for the Théâtre de l'Odéon in Paris.
In 2007, he directed his first film, C'est dimanche ! (It's Sunday!, 30 min). The film was selected in many international film festivals and won several awards: Audience Prize at the 2008 Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival; Special Jury Prize at the 2008 Valencia International Film Festival; Be TV Prize at Oh, ce court ! - Brussels Short Film Festival 2008.
In C'est dimanche ! (30 min, 2007), starring Illiès Boukouirene, Djemel Barek, Elise Oppong, Simon Abkarian & Yann Collette, Samir Guesmi humorously and tenderly narrates the story of a young teenager who has something to hide from his father... When 13-year-old Ibrahim is expelled from school, he pretends to his illiterate father that he got a diploma...
