Roy Andersson new Honorary President at Göteborg

Director Roy Andersson will be the new Honorary President of Göteborg International Film Festival and successor of Ingmar Bergman. Roy Andersson will participate during the upcoming festival with a collection of his short films.

Roy Andersson is well known all over the world for his feature films You the Living, Songs from the Second Floor, Giliap and A Swedish Love Story. With his strong integrity, profound engagement in questions of democracy and society, and with his daring and innovative take upon film making he is the perfect choice and inspiration for a festival as GIFF, working with the same guidelines.

The Göteborg International Film Festival and Roy Andersson already have experiences of working together with several projects. One of them is the short film World of Glory that opened the relay film project 90 minutes of the 90'ies in 1991. World of Glory will be screened before this year's opening film.

- We are extremely happy and proud that Roy Andersson accepted our offer
and we look forward to a long and inspiring relationship, says Åsa Bernlo, CEO of Göteborg International Film Festival.
