“We are living in exceptional times and as you will be aware, this year’s festival has been delayed, however, we are working towards something special. In the meantime, for anyone looking to watch something online, our on demand site is growing each week with new additions. It’s also worth noting that many titles are available globally, so you don’t have to be in Australia to watch them.
Many people working in film, and the arts in general, are suffering from the closure of productions, the closure of cinemas and venues, and the closure of bars and cafes, and our thoughts are with all of these people during these times. We are also thinking of the frontline workers who are responding to this crisis, not just those working in medical professions, but also those who continue to work in grocery stores and supply chains, and those industries that simply do not allow for people to work from home. I believe I speak on behalf of the entire team when I say thank you. We wish everybody the best in these troubled times.”

Revelation & XR:WA Program Update
Times might be tough, but for us it’s the moment for Revelation to call on all the resources, skills and alternate exhibition mechanisms we’ve worked so hard on for so long to support the community and the screen sector in all its forms. Rev will be flying the flag even higher for access, innovation and collaboration and continue to assist in building a resilient, critical and creative screen sector and wider community.
You might already be aware that we’re currently aiming at Sept 24-Oct 4 for a physical festival, but over the next few weeks, and in collaboration with events internationally, we’ll be rolling out a series of online initiatives aimed at all filmmakers. We’re also currently working on a film production enterprise or two and we're in the midst of developing an online festival around our original July dates.
Our streaming platform REVonDEMAND continues to provide a viable and high-quality alternative to festival content outside of multinational streaming services and we’ve already launched a special call for WA works on that.
Stay tuned for updates as they come to hand, but for us, as WA’s major incubator, facilitator and initiator of moving image-based ideas, a microbe ain’t going to stop us working with you in developing a positive and collaborative industry and community.
2020 Call for entries
The 2020 event has been postponed, but we’re still ploughing through films every night and accepting entries with a new deadline of June 1st. We may yet have to move the September dates based on what the plague will throw at us, but rest assured your films are being watched and considered and we’re determined they’ll will make their way to the screen in one way or another - we may even contact you regarding the Rev online festival. So if you have a film, send that thing to us and put yourself in the mix. Click here to enter.
