And the winners are…

Grand Prix HAFF Feature Film
Chico y Rita
Javier Mariscal, Fernando Trueba, Tono Errando (Spain/United Kingdom, 2010)
Jury report: It’s a classical love story that bridges different continents and moments in time, using music to weave a nostalgic web of memories and to bring a beautiful and melancholic story to a unified whole.
Dioraphte Grand Prix HAFF Narrative Short
Hand Soap
Kei Oyama (Japan, 2009)
Jury report: Using a collage of thoughtful and sometimes visceral imagery to provoke an uncomfortable, claustrophobic sense of loneliness we felt that Hand Soap was the most absorbing and complete experience.
Dioraphte Grand Prix HAFF Non-narrative Short
Freud, Fish and Butterfly
Haiyang Wang, Liu Zengyin (China, 2009)
Jury report: This naturally flowing piece draws its audience into a dreamlike stream of consciousness. Unpretentious in style and poetic in structure this film allows space for interpretation whilst taking us on a beautifully drawn, seamless, physiological journey. We felt that Freud, Fish and Butterfly offered up what felt like a small piece of a far bigger picture.
Grand Prix HAFF Commissioned Films
N.A.S.A Featuring Tom Waits and Kool Keith: Spacious Thoughts
Fluorescent Hill (Canada, 2009)
Jury report: This film was a unanimous choice by the jury. It left an immediate impression on all of us. It is a convincing, sustained work that makes clear expressive choices that were flawlessly executed. It beautifully merges image and sound. Watching the work was a powerful, immersive experience.
Grand Prix HAFF European Student Film
Miramare
Michaela Müller, Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb (Croatia/Switzerland, 2009)
Jury report: This film gave the strong sense that it was made from personal experience. The convergence of the two subjects, camping holidays and the labour of the immigrants, was subtly accomplished. The aesthetical choice enabled an experience in which unbearable lightness was contrasted to a heaviness that lays behind. The Jury would very much like to see more work of the artist.
1st Prize Competition Dutch Animation (Audience Award)
Wat wil jij?
Christa Moesker, Margriet Westerhof (The Netherlands, 2009)
MovieSquad HAFF Award
An Abstract Day
Oerd van Cuijlenborg (The Netherlands, 2010)

Jury Award: La Tête dans les Étoiles (Head in the Stars), Sylvain Vincendeau (France, 2005)
Audience Award: Le Loup à Poil (The Bare-Wolf), Valére Lommel, Joke van der Steen (France/Canada, 2010)
