Patrice Leconte and Awards ceremony reminderThe 16th edition of the CinEast Festival (5-22 October) is almost coming to an end but there are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the festival! First of all, don’t forget to reserve your place for the Prize Award Ceremony (link). Come also enjoy the Closing concert, and take part in the “final” of the CinEast 2023 charity project. The festival will also continue online on the cineast.eventive.org platform – available until November 5.
AWARDS CEREMONY of the 16th edition of the CinEast festival will take place this Saturday 21/10 at 7 p.m. at Kinepolis Kirchberg. We invite journalists who wish to participate in the ceremony to reserve their places (free, +1) before Friday 8 p.m. using this form. The festival's awards winners will be revealed with the participation of members of the International Jury and the Press Jury, as well as the Young Talents Jury which for the third time will award the Young Talents Award. The ceremony will be followed by the screening of the Closing film Guardians of the Formula [awarded at Locarno FF 2023 (Variety Piazza Grande Award, Pardo Verde Ricola, photos) and Sarajevo FF 2023 (Audience Award)] directed by Dragan Bjelogrlić. This intriguing thriller, based on a true story, reveals the secret Yugoslav nuclear programme as well as the first-ever human bone marrow transplant. The film (most of which is in French) takes us to Paris in 1958 and is sure to keep viewers in suspense.
PATRICE LECONTE, President of the CinEast’s International Jury, who is coming to Luxembourg for the first time, will present his latest feature film Maigret on Friday 20/10 (Cinémathèque, photos), will announce the winners of the festival awards during of the Ceremony on Saturday 21/10 (Kinepolis Kirchberg) and will also present a Masterclass, (Sunday 22/10, Cinémathèque) – an interview retracing his career hosted by journalist Pablo Chimienti. The film critic and president of the Luxembourg’s Film Critics’ Association (ALPC), will endeavour to explore and illuminate the various facets of our guest of honour, while evoking some of the many icons of French cinema with whom he collaborated, including Jean Rochefort, Michel Blanc, Philippe Noiret, Jean-Pierre Marielle, Fanny Ardant, to name just a few. This will constitute an overview of Patrice Leconte's cinematographic career, although provisional. Because at 75 years old and with 34 films to his credit, he has certainly not said his last word. Finally, this Sunday, 22 October, there will be a special screening of the film Dangerous Men (Neimënster, 18.30, photos) which will also mark the “finale” of the festival’s CinEast4Ukraine Charity Project. Furthermore, the film that won the Grand Prix of the festival will be repeated at the Cinémathèque this Sunday at 19.00 () and the very last screening of the festival – the “surprise” screening at Ciné Utopia this Sunday at 8:30 p.m. – will offer a special screening of the film Do Not Expect Too Much From The End of The World by Radu Jude (co-produced by Paul Thiltges Distributions, photos). 23.10.2023 | Editor's blog Cat. : PEOPLE
