The Los Angeles 22nd Outfest 2004 Set For July 8th to the 19th

Outfest will begin its 22nd edition of serving as one of the world’s largest gay and lesbian film festivals with Sony’s “D.E.B.S.” and will close with the debut of the much anticipated Warner Independent Pictures release “A Home at the End of the World,” starring Colin Farrell, Robin Wright Penn, Dallas Roberts and Sissy Spacek, directed by Michael Mayer and written by Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Cunningham (The Hours) from his acclaimed novel.

Outfest has the admiration of the Festival Industry for presenting a diverse program while staying true to the mission of the Festival. This year they plan to screen 218 films features, documentaries and short films from 24 countries. Dates are scheduled for the Festival is July 8th to the 19th at nine different venues across Los Angeles.

Todd Haynes, the multi award-winning writer and director of “Far From Heaven,” whose films have had a profound impact on modern Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/ Transgendered (LGBT) cinema, has been selected to receive the 8th Annual Outfest Achievement Award. This prize, Outfest’s highest honor, will be given to Haynes on July 8, prior to the screening of “D.E.B.S.,” as part of the Opening Night Gala which will once again occur at the 2000-seat Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Following the presentation and screening will be a huge after-party, with food from 30 different Los Angeles restaurants, dancing and merriment.
Outfest 2004 is presented by Absolut and HBO. Premiere sponsors include Adelphia, The Advocate, Avis, Director’s Guild of America (DGA) and Here TV
