Opening night of PDX Fest 2009 was a smashing success with a packed house for Bruce Conner: In Memoriam. We were so happy to welcome Conner's longtime collaborator and friend Michelle Silva, who shared intimate insights and stories from Conner's life. She also brought with her a bag of surprises in addition to the scheduled films - including an eyepopping 3 channel version of Cosmic Ray and a version of Crossroads that even she had never seem before. It was an incredibly sweet evening of tribute and celebration for a one of a kind artist.
Down the road at galleryHomeland, BUM EQUIPMENT rocked the house. This year's PDX Video Installation Exhibit was curated by Peter Burr (Hooliganship, Cartune Xprez) and featured a mind-blowing array of glorious animated, defragged, compressed and otherwise altered video images. Relayed through a variety of gorgeous monitor/sculptures, perfectly created by local design firm Von Tundra, this exhibit took everyone's breath away. The show also featured two interactive video games as well as live performances by Deelay Ceelay and Psychedelajawea too boot. The roof was raised.
