Feast your eyes on the latest successes from the French box office. Launched in the presence of the great French actor Vincent Perez amongst others, and followed by a gourmet buffet catered by the Maitres Cuisiniers de France, this prestigious French cinematographic weekend event will take place on December 4th, 5th and 6th, 2009, in the heart of Manhattan.

 ‘In French with English subtitles' will present nine films, all very recent productions and  currently still being shown on screen in France.  All films are New York Premières, some are US Premières, others are International Premières!

For the first time, through the medium of cinema, there will be a fundraising event in which all the proceeds will go directly to a charity! ‘In French with English subtitles' is the first festival presented by l'Entraide Française,  (http://www.entraidefrancaisenyc.com/), a not-for profit organization comprising a volunteer team which brings assistance to French citizens residing in the US who experience serious and unforeseeable difficulties and helps them to overcome these distressing moments.

These films, which are a must-see, will be screened in 35 mm with English subtitles at the Florence Gould Hall, 55 East 59th street, NY (http://www.fiaf.org/).  

On Friday December 4th, at 7:30 pm, the screening of ‘Demain dès l'Aube' I ‘Tomorrow At Dawn' (US Première) will launch the festival with a gala evening in the presence of talented stars, Vincent Perez, Pascal Elbé, Vincent Elbaz and Director Denis Dercourt. The screenig will be followed by a gourmet buffet hosted by the Maitres Cuisiniers de France.  

‘Demain dès l'aube' I ‘Tomorrow At Dawn' (US Première) is a drama film in the style of a thriller.  It explores the relationship between two brothers, the younger of whom is so enthralled by Napoleonic historical battles that he loses touch with reality.  The elder brother, expertly played by Vincent Perez, manages to extract his younger brother from this imaginary world and only to find himself shifting between the real and the virtual. A surprising and very moving film.  

Saturday December 5th,  4 films will be screened:

12pm: 'Adieu Gary' I ‘Goodbye Gary Cooper' (International Première) tackles serious issues such as the reinsertion of prisoners and the world of unemployment. The tragic lives of the characters are filled with energy as well as despair. Although by no means a comedy, nor optimistic, the film is positive and has its funny moments.

2pm,    ‘Incognito' I ‘Incognito' (US Première), provides us with a real satire on dishonesty and celebrity.  A farcical comedy starring amongst other the humorist Franck Dubosc.

5pm,    ‘Romaine par moins 30' I ‘Romaine 30º Below' (US Première), transports us into the imaginary and tender world located in the heart of the northern territories of Quebec.  Pascal Elbé and Sandrine Kimberlain take on the roles of the 30s generation of today with all its doubts and uncertainties. 

Pascal Elbé will be present to share any questions with you after the screening.

8pm, ‘  Tellement proches' I ‘So Close, So Far' (NY Première) a film full of humor and emotions.  A comedy in which Vincent Elbaz is a member of a mixed up family where each personality seems to slip slowly into their own sweet madness.

Vincent Elbaz,  winner of the Jean Gabin award in 1998, will be present at the end of  the screening to answer your questions as well.

Sunday December 6th,  4 additional films for you to discover!

12pm, ‘Une semaine sur deux' I ‘Alternate Weeks' (US Première) with Mathilde Seigner and Bernard Campan, is a moral comedy.  With subtlety and freshness from a child's as well the adult's point of view, this film takes you through the ups and downs of a reconstructed family as father and mother bring their children and little habits into a new family experience.

2:30pm, 'Le Petit Nicolas' I ‘Little Nicholas' (International Première) currently a huge success France.                                   This nostalgic and funny comedy takes place in France in the 50s. It is a school saga borrowed from            the universe of  France's favorite the cartoonists Goscigny and Sempé. A film for the enjoyment of       the whole family.

5pm     ‘Le dernier pour la route' I ‘One For The Road' (International Première) is a dramatic comedy starring Francois Cluzet in the lead role.  This powerful film realistically explores a man's fight against his alcohol addiction.

            Francois Cluzet was awarded the Cesar for Best Actor in 2006 for his role in the film "Tell No One".

7pm     ‘Quelque chose à te dire' I ‘Blame It On Mum' (NY Première) a popular comedy on family life with Pascal Elbé, which will bring the festival to an end. The film, embarks us on the theme of family secrets and their frequent unexpected consequences.

Pascal Elbé will be there to close this wonderful event.

Alcohol addiction, the world of celebrity, unemployment, childhood, adolescence, life as it is today, - are all sensitive subjects covered by these films, with a pinch of "French touch"!
