New faces at Hamburg FilmFest

Filmfest Hamburg (30th September to 9th October 2010) has a new logo: a cinema ticket with a perforated stub, sporting the respective year. The logo and corporate identity were designed by the agency ‘loved', a subsidiary of the advertising company ‘kempertrautmann' in Hamburg, who has been developing the Filmfest Hamburg campaign since 2009. "The idea was to put the entry ticket into the limelight. After all, it has been granting access into another world for decades; a world of films and cinemas," says loved.

"We took to the logo from the very first moment. It is catchy and it befits an international film festival perfectly. An entry ticket requires no translation, it is understood in every language," says Festival Director Albert Wiederspiel.
The ticket will adorn the website, writing paper and buisiness cards as well as t-shirts and bags.
This year the stub is coloured red, in reminiscence of the former festival colour. In 2011 the stub will be green, as a reference to Hamburg's upcoming title "European Green Capital 2011".

Changes are also due within the Filmfest Hamburg team: Sophie Schulz is responsible for sponsoring and marketing.

She is part of the ‘Generation Internship' and has made full use of her opportunities. Originally from Munich, she has travelled the world, including stops in La Paz and New York, where she gained much experience in various fields of the media industry. "I was in search of a new challenge," says Sophie Schulz, "and found just what I was looking for at Filmfest Hamburg."

Ruth Rockenschaub has broadened her sphere of influence. Besides the protocol, which she managed very successfully in 2009, she is now additionally in charge of fundraising. Ruth Rockenschaub has a multitude of talents. Not only does she provide the team at Filmfest Hamburg with ideas and witty inspiration, but she also works as a speaker for advertising, voiceovers and audio books, and is a painter and a musician to boot.

As of July, Caroline Schmidt-Gross will run the communications and press department.
She was previously a part of the festival team in 2006, where she was in charge of the Made-for-TV Movies section. She then spent two years in Cambodia, where she ran the media institute at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. "At long last I can immerse myself in the film genre with all its facets without being utterly dependent of lowest quality Asian pirate copies," says a cheerful Caroline Schmidt-Gross.
This year the Made-for-TV Movies section is run by Irmhild Speck. The trained journalist also works as a seminar facilitator at Akademie für Publizistik in the TV training department. "I had to be home by 10pm until I was 18, so I watched TV till closedown instead. I would even miss school the next morning to watch reruns of particularly good films. The unintended birth of a passion. So my new job at Filmfest Hamburg is absolutely ideal for me," says Irmhild Speck.

Festival Director Albert Wiederspiel and Kathrin Kohlstedde are once again responsible for the programme at Filmfest Hamburg.

The 18th Filmfest Hamburg takes place from 30th September to 9th October 2010 in the cinemas: Abaton Kino, Cinemaxx Dammtor, Metropolis Kino, 3001 Kino and for the first time in the B-Movie cinema.
