New Director of Programming for NSI

NSI - Canada, announces Liz Janzen as new Director of Programming

The National Screen Institute – Canada is pleased to announce Liz Janzen has joined NSI as Director of Programming beginning August 9.

“We are thrilled to have Liz join the NSI team,” said Susan Millican, NSI CEO. “Her knowledge and experience in Canadian film and television is exceptional and we look forward to her contributions and leadership in this position.”

Most recently, Ms Janzen was the Development Manager, Western Independent Production, for CTV Network. Prior to this position, she was Acting Director of Programming for Showcase Diva and Showcase Action at Alliance Atlantis. Additionally, she was one of the founding staff at Women’s Television Network, as a Senior Programmer for 8 years.

In addition to Canadian television experience, Ms Janzen also has extensive experience in the Canadian film industry. While at WTN, she was the producer of Shameless Shorts, acquiring short films from around the world. In 2002, she was the Program Coordinator for the Canadian Film Centre’s Worldwide Short Film Festival.

>From 1986 – 1993 Ms Janzen did freelance work and held a variety of
positions on Manitoba film shoots.

Ms Janzen holds a Master's Degree in English and Film Studies from the University of Manitoba.

“It’s very rewarding to work with writers, directors and producers,” said Janzen. “NSI programs help emerging and mid level talents reach their goals, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that exciting process.”

The National Screen Institute - Canada, with headquarters in Winnipeg, is one of Canada's four nationally recognized film and television training schools. With over 80% of NSI graduates working in the industry, our participants don't just learn about the process - they live it.

The National Screen Institute - Canada operates with ongoing funding from Telefilm Canada through Canadian Heritage, and Manitoba Culture, Heritage and Tourism. Additional support provided by Patrons: Global Television Network, CTV and CBC Television. Further support provided by our Partner: Warner Bros. Canada Inc.
