NEC Digital Cinema Division Wins the 2007 American Business Award

NEC Corporation of America, a premier provider of network, IT and digital cinema solutions, today announced that the its STARUS(TM) NC2500S digital cinema projector with DLP Cinema(R) technology from Texas Instruments(R) was awarded a "Stevie" at the 2007 American Business Awards.
Hailed as "the business world's own Oscars" (New York Post, April 27, 2005), The American Business Awards are the only national, all-encompassing awards program honoring great performances in business.

NEC's digital cinema projector, the STARUS NC2500S was named 2007's "Best New Product or Service" at the awards ceremony held in June in New York City. Stevies were presented in more than 70 categories, including "Best Overall Company," "Best Executive," and "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program." More than 2,000 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration.

Kurt Schwenk, general manager, and Peter Nicholas, director of projector sales, Digital Cinema Division of NEC Corporation of America, were presented the award before a packed ballroom. In accepting the Stevie, Kurt said, "We are honored to be recognized for our STARUS digital cinema projector. This is an exciting time for digital cinema, and it is a great accomplishment to have our product recognized by this important organization as an innovative and cutting-edge technology."

The win marks a significant milestone for NEC's digital cinema projector. The STARUS NC2500S is the world's brightest DLP Cinema(R) projector which enables theatres to deliver crystal clear images with precise 2K (2048 x 1080) resolution and high contrast images (greater than 2000:1), ultimately providing the best possible movie-viewing experience for audiences.

The STARUS NC2500S digital cinema projector is also easy to operate, user friendly, and requires minimal maintenance. Managers are able to set memory functions for lens position and lamp output, perform lamp changes from the back of projector, control the projector from an optional touch screen, and utilize a built-in Web server to control the projector from any authorized Web browser.

Many world famous premier theatres have installed NEC's NC2500S digital projector to deliver unparalleled images, including the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Clearview Cinemas' Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City, Mann's Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Mann's Village Theatre in Westwood, Mann's Criterion Theatre in Santa Monica, Mann's Bruin Theatre in Westwood, and ArcLight Cinema's Cinerama Dome in Hollywood.

"The Digital Cinema Division in NEC is in an exciting period of growth," said Kurt Schwenk. "We offer a complete portfolio of digital cinema solutions and in-theatre advertising systems. Winning the "Stevie" award further demonstrates our industry leadership in developing and distributing innovative solutions to revolutionize cinematic experiences."
