For 30 years, millions of spectators came to Montreal from around the world, millions of films lovers participated in the WORLD FILM FESTIVAL.

The WORLD FILM FESTIVAL presents films from all continents, stimulates the development of quality films, supports art cinema, discovers new talent. The greatest directors and actors have come to the Montreal World Film Festival.

The WORLD FILM FESTIVAL has its own personality and for three decades it has emphasized cultural diversity; it is not at the exclusive service of a particular group. International film professionals respect the World Film Festival.

The WORLD FILM FESTIVAL must continue its work !

Over 30 years, its screens have shown film from 140 countries, including hundreds of features and thousands of shorts from all across Canada. The Montreal World Film Festival is the only competitive event in North America recognized by FIAPF, the international federation of film producers' associations. It is instrumental in the promotion of Quebec and its film industry around the world.

The WORLD FILM FESTIVAL is an institution that is essential to cultural life. It must continue its work for film lovers, for the cinema, for filmmakers, for all citizens. With great courage, the international festival of film in Montreal this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

We support and celebrate the 30th anniversary of this magnificent adventure, in the hope that the world will be present again on our screens next year and for years to come.

Film lovers, filmmakers, journalists, civil servants, politicians, publicists; the WORLD FILM FESTIVAL is our Festival ! It was menaced by furtive conspiracies; thirty years of experience, international relations and cinematic pleasure are at risk.

This is a Festival that is loved by the public; its wishes deserve our respect.
