Mar del Plata International Fim Festival awards

MAR DEL PLATA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

OFFICIAL PRIZES OF ITS 21st EDITION

The mexican film "Noticias Lejanas" directed by Ricardo Benet obtained the GOLD ASTOR AWARD for the Best Film in Official Section in Competition at the 21st edition of Mar del Plata Intenational Film Festival.
Marcos Martins received Best Director for "Alice" with the SILVER ASTOR AWARD and William Macy Best Actor for his work in the film "Edmond", directed by Stuart Gordon. Justine Clarke was awarded with the SILVER ASTOR for the Best Actress for the australian film "Look both ways". The Best Iberoamerican Film was ex-aequo for the brazilian film "Cinema, aspirinas, e urubus" directed by Marcelo Gomes and the argentinian film "Derecho de familia", directed by Daniel Burman. The Jury otorgated the Special Prize for "Molly's Way", directed by Amily Atef. The SILVER ASTOR for Best Script was for Sarah Watt for the film "Mirar a ambos lados". The Special Mentions were "Be with Me" directed by Eric Khoo and "Café transit" by Kambozia Partovi, for "the positive portrait of the iranian woman fight".
The Jury was composed by Hans Hurch (Austria), Juliane Lorenz (Germany), Krysztof Zanussi (Poland), Assumpta Serna (Spain), Meenakshi Sheede (India), Paz Alicia Garciadiego (Mexico) and Eduardo de Gregorio (Argentina).
