Malibu Fest honors Director Mary Lambert

12th Malibu International Film FestivalHonors Director Mary Lambert with Cinematic Environmentalist Award

On this upcoming Thursday, October 6th, the 12th Annual Malibu International Film Festival will honor director Mary Lambert with a Cinematic Environmentalist Award during its Opening Night directly after the screening of her documentary “Miss South Pacific: Beauty and the Sea.” The film not only follows the 2009-2010 Miss South Pacific Pageant, but also tells the story of various Pacific Island countries and how they have been affected by climate change.

While Lambert first gained attention as a director in the music video world, she is best known for her work in features (PET SEMATARY, PET SEMATARY 2, SIESTA) and has directed a wide range of television projects for major networks. Upon learning of the upcoming award, Lambert humbly accepted in hopes of spreading her film’s message – one that, according to Lambert, needs to be heard. Fellow environmental activists and personal friends Pierce and Keely Brosnan will present the Award. “Miss South Pacific” kicks off the Opening Night of the Festival with a screening at Malibu Cinemas at 7:00 PM. After the presentation of Lambert’s Award, the evening continues with an introduction by Pierce Brosnan for the romantic comedy feature “Kissing Strangers” directed by David Katz (Film and Television Producer, Malibu Film Festival Founder). The Opening Night Films are sponsored by Keely Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan, Kym Gold, Babakul, Dianne Burnett, the Joan Valentine Foundation, Kanner Sisters Productions, and Marty Katz Productions. The Opening Night Party immediately follows at Malibu Lumber Yard sponsored by Keely Brosnan, Pierce Brosnan, Kym Gold, Babakul, Dianne Burnett, the Joan Valentine Foundation, Kanner Sisters Productions, Marty Katz Productions, Stella Artois, Vita Coco, Clear Channel Outdoor, and SIR. The Festival will not screen on Friday in observance of Yom Kippur. Closing Night is Saturday evening: the Festival wraps up in style at the Lumber Yard with film screenings and cocktails under the stars, Awards Presentations, and a Closing Night Party.        SPECIAL EVENTS & SCREENINGSTHURSDAY OCTOBER 6, 2011Event: Opening Night Screenings Location: Malibu CinemasAddress: 3822 Cross Creek Road Malibu, CA 90265Time: 7:00 PM, 8:00 PMBox Office: $20 TicketWeb (866) 468-3399 and Malibu Cinemas box office (Ticket is All Access for Entire Festival)                                                                                               THURSDAY OCTOBER 6, 2011Event: Opening Night Party Location: Malibu Lumber YardAddress:  3939 Cross Creek Road Malibu, CA 90265Time: 8:00 PM SATURDAY OCTOBER 8, 2011Event: Film Screenings with Q&A SessionsScreening Times: 7:00 PM , 9:00 PM Location: Malibu Lumber YardAddress: 3939 Cross Creek Road Malibu, CA 90265Box Office: $20 TicketWeb (866) 468-3399 (Ticket is All Access for Entire Festival) SATURDAY OCTOBER 8, 2011Event: Awards Reception & PartyTime: 10:30 PMLocation: Malibu Lumber YardAddress: 3939 Cross Creek Road Malibu, CA 90265
