LOTR trilogy extended edition screening with cast in NY

PETER JACKSON AND CAST MEMBERS INTRODUCING SPECIAL SCREENING OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY
Unique Special Extended Editions To Be Screened Together As One Event

On January 10-11, The Film Society of Lincoln Center and New Line Cinema will present a weekend-long screening series of the Special Extended Editions of the first two films in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, followed by the third and final film, The Return of the King, at Lincoln Center. This will be the first time the films will be shown together as one event with the director in attendance.

On Saturday, January 10, co-writer/director/producer Peter Jackson and members of the cast will introduce each screening in the series and participate in a Q&A following the final screening of the night, of The Return of the King. On Sunday, January 11, the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s program director, Richard Peña, will host an extended Conversation with Peter Jackson, revisiting the highlights of his career and exploring The Lord of The Rings Trilogy in depth.

“The Film Society of Lincoln Center showcases groundbreaking films from all over the world. We are honored and delighted to join with them in presenting this unique screening series of The Lord of the Rings trilogy,” said Russell Schwartz, President, Domestic Theatrical Marketing, for New Line Cinema.

“The Film Society of Lincoln Center is thrilled to be partnering with New Line Cinema on this extraordinary weekend of events,” said Richard Peña, Programming Director, The Film Society of Lincoln Center. “These epic films are intelligent and affecting works of art which have set a new standard of excellence.”

On December 17, the Journey is coming to an end. Co-writer/director/producer Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s revered trilogy concludes with the worldwide release of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. With intimate, emotional stories set against an epic backdrop, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King tells the dramatic final story of these men, their relationships and rivalries, and how through courage, commitment, and determination even the least of us can change the world.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King stars (in alphabetical order) Sean Astin, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Brad Dourif, Bernard Hill, Christopher Lee, Ian McKellen, Dominic Monaghan, Viggo Mortensen, John Noble, Miranda Otto, John Rhys-Davies, Andy Serkis, Liv Tyler, Karl Urban, Hugo Weaving, David Wenham, and Elijah Wood. The third film in the highly acclaimed trilogy is produced by Barrie M. Osborne, Fran Walsh and Jackson. The screenplay is by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Jackson based on the book by J.R.R. Tolkien.
