Dr. V. Shantaram Award for Lifetime achievement announced to film maker Shri Shri Aribam Sam Sharma.
At the grand inaugural ceremony of 10th Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short and Animation Films (MIFF2008), Dr. V. Shantaram Award for Lifetime achievement announced to film maker Shri Aribam Sam Sharma. A seven day long biannual film festival is being attended by documentary film producers and lovers across the world.
A special package of films shot by army soldiers is an attraction of the festival. The package was inaugurated by the Governer of Jammu & KashmirLt Gen SK Sinha. During his speech he said that the film helps change in minds of people especially in strife torn states such as Jammu & Kashmir. War is not a solution to anything and we should restrict war and conflict situation and help spread brotherhood and love among the people.

The Festival’s special package on second World War compromises rare films of the Indian troops in action in various part of the world during the second world War. These films feature the “Surrender of British Forces to Japan” in second World War, “Liberation of Singapore from Japan”, and “Destruction of Czarist fleet”
