We are happy to announce that LAZZARO FELICE (“Happy as Lazzaro”) by Italian director and screenwriter Alice Rohrwacher will be the opening film of this year’s Viennale.

A fairytale reminiscent of great authors of literature and cinema and travelling through various eras and time, LAZZARO FELICE tells us about the reality of human feelings and our time.

Alice Rohrwacher is an original and refreshing author on the international film scene, with a deep sensitivity to the memory of cinema but also the ability to find her own unique voice. She belongs to a new generation of authors who are reinventing the great tradition of Italian cinema. With her third feature film, she attracted the attention of the Cannes Film Festival, where LAZZARO FELICE had its premiere and won the Award for Best Screenplay.

Alice Rohrwacher is a guest of the Viennale and will be present at opening night, Thursday, October 25, 2018, in Gartenbaukino.
