Launching the Remake Film Market in Monaco

Under the High Patronage of H.S.H Prince Albert II

THE LAUNCHING OF THE REMAKE FILM MARKET
The Cinema & Literature International Forum’s primary goal is to intensify the contacts and the networking between the professionals from the Literary and Comics, Cinema and Television worlds.
On the occasion of its fifth anniversary, the Forum officially launches the new and world’s first Remake Film Market.
The Remake Film Market will run concurrently with the Literary Adaptation Market, which brings together, every year, publishers, literary agents and producers from around the world.
Professionals from several countries, such as France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Great Britain, the USA and Canada, have already signed up for both markets.
TV and Film producers registered with the Literary Adaptation Market and with the Remake Film Market will be able to consult on-line, thanks to an individual login, pitches of novels, comics and films free of rights. They will then organize their meetings directly at their booth or negotiation tables.
The remake has become a valuable source of inspiration for film directors and producers, with examples of such films as the “Choristes”, successful remake of “La Cage aux Rossignols” by Jean Dréville (1945), “De battre mon coeur s’est arrêté” by Jacques Audiard, adaptation of “Fingers” by James Toback (USA, 1978), “Vanilla Sky” by Cameron Crowe, remake of “Abre los ojos” by
Alejandro Amenabar, and many more.

DEAL FOCUS
The Literary Adaptation Market already counts a number of deals signed during the past editions, among which: “Petite aux Aigles” by Eve Gabrielle, published by Anne Carriere was acquired by Jade Production for television and the manuscript “Figurek”, by Fabrice Caro, purchased and produced by
Few.
The Literary Adaptation Market has equally generated a few co production agreements: in 2005 Serendipity Point Films (Canada) and Babe Films (France) and Cattleya (Italy) have come together for a common desire, the adaptation to the screen of the novel by Mordecai Richler, “Barney’s version”.
The Forum has also launched some books which are now being adapted to cinema, such as: “Le Soleil des Scorta ”, by Laurent Gaudé (award 2005), published by Actes Sud and produced by Morgana Films (Spain), and “Et après” by Guillaume Musso (award 2004), published by XO and produced by Fidélité Productions.
