Large French Filmmaker quota at Rotterdam

The French cinema is represented at the 33st International Film Festival Rotterdam with a remarkable number of films.
Catherine Breillat has chosen Rotterdam as the festival for the world premiere of ANATOMIE DE L'ENFER. This will take place on January 23rd.

Breillat's ROMANCE also received its world premiere in Rotterdam. A selection of 'Photogrammes' from ANATOMIE DE L'ENFER by Breillat will be presented at the RAM Gallery in Rotterdam. Festival regular Raul Ruiz is a Filmmaker in Focus with more than fifteen films, including the world premiere of his homage to festival founder Hubert Bals, and a publication on his work. Robert Salis' second film GRANDE ECOLE will have its world premiere in the VPRO Tiger Awards Competition. The French co-production DEADLINES by Ludi Boeken will its world premiere in the Main Programme. Significant In the VPRO Tiger Award Competition as well as within the selection of the Hubert Bals Fund are a number of French co-productions, confirming the importance of France within cinema in general. Raul Ruiz, Catherine Breillat, Julie Bertucelli, Eugène Green, Vincent Dieutre, Zeka Laplaine, Sepideh Frasi, Ludi Boeken, Robert Salis and Bruno Dumont will attend the festival, together with several actors, to promote their films. Catherine Breillat and Raul Ruiz take part in the daily 'In Person' on their work on Saturday and Sunday respectively at 15h30 in the Rotterdam Schouwburg. Also shown are the latest films from among others Jacques Rivette and Bertrand Bonello and new and established talent can be discovered within the very significant number of French short films the festival has again selected this year.
