La Biennale Channel to launch online competitions

Through its new site, La Biennale Channel, the Venice Biennale is launching a series of online competitions, aimed both at Italian students and at young people throughout the world, with the aim of stimulating and rewarding creativity, at the same time attracting the young to the activities of the Venice Biennale.

The online competitions foresee:
- prizes to promote applied creativity of the young and of schools
- the publication of the works on the Biennale site, www.labiennalechannel.org
- forms of direct participation in Biennale events
- participation in contests developed through the web, a format that is closer to the new generations

ANIMATED CINEMA – SHORT FILMS
7 June - 20 August 2009

An on-line competition associated with the 66th International Film Festival, called Venezianimation and aimed at young people from around the world aged between 18 and 26 years of age for the production of a short animated video of any subject and of a maximum duration of five minutes (5’).

POCKET FILM PRIZE: I MAKE MY WORLD

VIDEO-WORKS MADE USING MOBILE TELEPHONES
7 June - 30 September 2009

An on-line competition associated with the 53rd International Art Exhibition of the Biennale, Fare Mondi/Making Worlds, called Pocket Film Prize: I Make My World, and aimed at young people from around the world aged between 18 and 26 years of age for video-works made using mobile phones. Contestants can participate with video-works not exceeding one minute (1’) in duration, without any constraints as to genre, on a theme linked to Fare Mondi/Making Worlds.
