Kosslick opens the Berlinale Talent Campus

Foreign Secretary Steinmeier to open Campus

Foreign secretary Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Berlinale Director Dieter Kosslick will open the Berlinale Talent Campus on Saturday 11 February at 5pm. First of all the 520 Campus participants from 101 countries, together with numerous guests from the international film business, will be welcomed. After this the Berlin Today Award will be presented and the three short films nominated for the Berlin Today Award will be premiered in the House of World Cultures (HKW).

Success Stories – the Berlinale Talent Campus as Launching Pad
No less than 22 former Campus Talents and two of this year's Campus Talents are involved in twenty different films in the categories Panorama, Forum, Perspektive Deutsches Kino (Prospects of the German Cinema) and Kinderfilmfest (Festival of Children's Films) of the Berlinale 2006: thirteen of them as director, others as producer, sound designer, composer, cinematographer, author or actor.

A Question of Taste with Michael Ballhaus
In the public event "The Case for Taste", cinematographer Michael Ballhaus (Goodfellas) will discuss the culinary world now and in the future. His guests will be Carlo Petrini (president of the Slow Food Movement), Juan Pittaluga (co-producer of Mondovino) and journalist Stefan Elfenbein (Der Feinschmecker, WeinGourmet) – Monday, 13 February at 2 p.m. in the HKW.

Last minute news: "Designing the Past" with Allan Starski
Allan Starski, the Polish production designer of Spielberg's Schindler's List, Polanski's The Pianist and Oliver Twist is one of the internationally most sought after production designers. He will discuss "Designing the Past" with Alissa Kolbusch and Johannes Sternagel (A Pass from the Back) – moderated by Annette Ganders-Adlon. Monday, 13 February at 10.30 a.m. in the HKW.

Additional Screening: Knallhart in Campus
Detlev Buck's social drama Tough Enough, an entry in this year's Panorama section, will be given an extra screening on Wednesday, 15 February at 2 p.m. in the HKW. Afterwards one of this year's Campus Experts, the film editor Dirk Grau (German Film Prize 2005), will be open to questions from the audience.

The Iranian Competition Entry Zemestan (It’s Winter)
On Thursday, 16 February at 4.30 p.m., the competition entry Zemestan (It’s Winter) will be given an extra screening. Afterwards the audience will have a chance to discuss the film with its director Rafi Pitts.



The Berlinale Talent Campus is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, a division of the Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH, in co-operation with MEDIA Training, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Skillset and UK Film Council as well as Volkswagen.
