Kaliber 35 Munich international Short Film Festival in full gear

June 21-27, 2012

35 SHORT FILMS FROM 25 COUNTRIES AS BAVARIAN PREMIERES
After several months of viewing over 1.100 submissions and nearly as many films sought out in own research, we put together an International Competition that takes the world's best short films to Munich for their Bavarian premieres. Like in previous years, we arranged the films in tasty programs, named after the five flavors SWEET, SOUR, SALTY, BITTER and UMAMI. In addition to the International Competition there will be presentations of films rewarded at the German Short Film Award, as well films from members and friends of the Munich Film Society and from the NISI MASA European Network of Young Cinema. You can find a complete overview of the films 2012 at www.kaliber35.de/2012/sections.html.

THE COUNTRY NEEDS NEW VENUES!
The Gloria Palast, home to KALIBER35 in former years, is being refurbished this year and our short film festival is moving to new venues. The opening event (June 21) and the screenings Monday to Wednesday (June 25-27) take place at the film.coop at Schwanthalerhöhe (Westendstraße 123, 2nd floor). The festival weekend (June 22-24) including the KURZ&KNAPP ("SHORT&TIGHT") KINOSPORTSCUP will take place at the City Kinos in Sonnenstraße where the cinema bar invites to a get-together before and after the film presentations. This is also the place to meet and talk to the international festival guests from all over the world. By the way, the five programs will each be shown once at every location. Check our site www.kaliber35.de/2012/program.html for further details on place and time.

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
The Munich Film Society, which acts behind the scenes of the KALIBER35 Munich International Short Film Festival, is a small association without employees or institutional funding. We need your help to be able to organize such an outstanding festival. You could help us by hanging up some posters, distributing flyers or displaying our stickers (of course only where allowed or where you have the approval of the owner). The material is available for collection at film.coop. For 10 big posters, 20 little posters or 40 stickers, we grant a free entrance ticket for a presentation of your own choice. Even better you get the festival pass which allows you to enter every program of KALIBER35. Instead of 90 Euro (the sum of all the single tickets) it costs only 35 Euro and you can buy it online at www.kaliber35.de/tickets.html.

IN THE MIDST OF THE ACTION
One of the highlights of the short film festival will be our KURZ&KNAPP ("SHORT&TIGHT") KINOSPORTSCUP, in which – like last year – the participants have 35 hours to shoot a short film with a length of 3 minutes and 50 seconds. Differences in film length up to a range of 35% will be accepted. At the kick-off on Friday, June 22 at the bar of the City Kinos at 23:00 we will announce the three elements the film must contain. That´s our way to make sure no one produces his film beforehand. After the announcement the film-makers or teams have 35 hours (until Sunday, June 24, 10:00) to write, plan, shoot, edit and finally hand the movies in at the City Kinos. On the same night the big KURZ&KNAPP award ceremony will be held, in which we show all of the films, present the teams and award the best entries. Information regarding rules, awards and registration are available at www.kurz-knapp.de.
