Jules Vernes Adventure Festival

The International Event dedicated to Exploration & Conservation arrives in Los Angeles! Transforming The Legendary Shrine Auditorium into a Fantastic Exploratorium every year…

The Festival will pay a special tribute to Jane Goodall, George Lucas and Harrison Ford and to King Kong first steps on the Shrine Auditorium Stage in 1933 with special guest Ray Harryhausen.
The premiere of the documentary film Explorers: From the Titanic to the Moon, starring Buzz Aldrin and James Cameron, will close the event. Special guest: James Cameron on stage.

THE JULES VERNE AWARDS PRESENTATION

Jane Goodall, George Lucas and Harrison Ford will receive a special homage and will be presented with the Jules Verne Award on Friday, October 6, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles at 8pm. The night will be hosted by Malcolm McDowell.

DOCUMENTARY FILM PREMIERE
"EXPLORERS: From the Titanic to the Moon"
starring Buzz Aldrin and James Cameron
Screened for the first time in the USA, a portrait of two men who have achieved the writer’s most beautiful dreams.

Academy Award Winner and explorer JAMES CAMERON on stage to introduce the film.

KING KONG’S FIRST STEPS WITH FX MASTER RAY HARRYHAUSEN
Master creator of special effects, Ray Harryhausen, is our guest of honor on October 6, for a special homage to King Kong’s first steps. The real King Kong will live again on the Shrine Auditorium stage!

STAR TREK CAST ON THE RED CARPET
In the spirit of truly great adventures, the latest notables to join the red carpet coterie of stars for the Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival’ (JVAFF) gala October 6, 2006 launch event at L.A.’ Shrine Auditorium are celebrated cast members from the original Star Trek TV series: Walter Koenig (Ensign Pavel Chekov), Majel Barrett (Christine Chapel), Rene Auberjonois (Constable Odo), Dominic Keating (Lieutenant Malcom Reed) and Marina Sirtis (Counselor Deanna Troi) .
