Ischia Film Festival is underway

The Ischia Film Festival, the film competition previously known as the Foreign Film Festival, is underway. This is the Festival which gives artistic recognition to Directors, Directors of Photography and Art Directors who through the locations they have chosen have promoted the culture and the locations of Italy and abroad.

There are a lot of new events planned for the 2005 edition. Top of these is the new category of Production Photographs and there will be a special exhibition linked to this which will be open for the period of the Festival.

The screenings of works in competition will take place in a splendid area of Ischia in exceptional “locations” such as the Castello Aragonese and the villa Colombaia which was previously the home of Luchino Visconti.

The competition categories are: Full Length Feature Films (Italian and foreign); Short Films; Documentaries; Production Photographs. Entry is free. The works can have been publicly released or not but if they have been publicly released this must be after 1 January 2004. Works must be submitted to the secretarial offices of the Festival by and no later than 30 April 2005.

The Artistic Management will appraise the works submitted and will contact those selected for the competition through a press release in May. The internal jury of the Festival has the task of making the award to the Best TV Drama, the Italy Citta Cinema Award, the Plinius 2004 award and the Ciak di Corallo career award which in previous editions has been won by Oscar Winner Sir Ken Adam and the International Casting Director Staila Rubin. The President of the jury for the third edition will be Vittorio Giacci, President of NUCT (The New University of Cinema and Television, Rome) who follows in the footsteps of Oscar Winner Carlo Rimbaldi and the Executive Producer Enzo Sisti.
.
With the Ischia Film Festival Italy will become a major player in the new economic sector which is taking hold throughout the world by bringing together the passion for the cinema with the search for alternative tourist destinations; it will be a place of research, evaluation and debate about cinema – national and international – linked to the cultural tourist phenomenon of Movie Tourism
