HUMANITAS Awards Trophy and Cash Prize

Honoring Film & TV Writers Whose Stories Explore the Human Condition, HUMANITAS Awards Trophy and Cash Prize

LOS ANGELES, March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HUMANITAS is pleased to announce a Call for Entries for the 37th annual HUMANITAS Prize. Categories for submission include Feature Film Screenplay; Sundance Feature Film Screenplay; Documentary (including, for the first time, hour-long docuseries); 90, 60 and 30 minute Primetime Teleplays; and Children's Animation and Live Action Teleplays.

A signature HUMANITAS story challenges us to use our freedom to grow and develop, forces us to think about our options in life, confronts us with our individual responsibility and explores our differences in culture, race, lifestyle, political loyalties and religious beliefs in order to break down the walls of ignorance and fear that separate us.

The application is available at the HUMANITAS Prize website (http://humanitasprize.org/Prize_Submission.html). No entry fee is required and there is no limit on the number of submissions. The deadline to submit is April 1, 2011.

Last year's winners include Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious), Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd (Modern Family) tied with Liz Brixius, Linda Wallem & Evan Dunsky (Nurse Jackie), Robert King & Michelle King (The Good Wife) tied with Ryan Murphy (GLEE), Christopher Monger & William Merritt Johnson (Temple Grandin), Anne Rosellini & Debra Granik (Winter's Bone) and Jennifer Arnold (A Small Act).

Since its inception, the HUMANITAS Prize has awarded over $3 million to more than 283 deserving writers.

The HUMANITAS Prize is funded by an endowment established through the generosity of individuals, networks, studios and foundations.

The 37th annual HUMANITAS Prize Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 in the Montage Beverly Hills Ballroom
