Howard Shore live LOTR concert in Antwerp

Howard Shore presents The Lord of the Rings symphony in six movements for orchestra and chorus in sportpaleis of Antwerp on April 16th. The concert is a one-time European première. Once again Shore is nominated for the coming 76th Academy Award ceremony at the end of February. He is nominated for best score and best song (Into the west) for The Lord of the Rings - the return of the king. In 2002, he won an Oscar for best score for The Lord of the Rings - the two towers.

Academy Award winning composer Howard Shore managed to make a moving concert suite in six movements for orchestra and chorus out of the complete film music from the Tolkien trilogy. Shore will personally conduct the Flemish Radio orchestra and chorus on April 16th. In all, more than 200 performers will bring the adventures of Sam, Gandalf, Saruman and many others come to live. During the concert draws and sketches of various movie landscapes will be shown on a screen.

Earlier this year Howard Shore won two Golden Globes for best score and best song (Into the west) for The Lord of the Rings - the return of the king. The closing part of the trilogy is nominated in eleven categories for the Oscars, among which best picture and best directing. This Canadian composer was given the World Soundtrack Award - Best Original Soundtrack of the Year for Lord Of The Rings in 2002 at the Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent. That same year he was awarded the Georges Delerue Prijs for Best Music at the Film Festival in Ghent for his score in Spider by David Cronenberg.

Howard Shore is a great personality and enjoyes great fame as a composer with an impressive filmography. It is a true honour welcoming this composer for the live performance of a unique film concert in the Antwerp Sportpaleis. The concert closes off the Tolkien trilogy which was awarded many times. It would be a pity to miss this highlight.

The Lord of the Rings; symphony in six movements for orchestra and chorus is organised by the Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent in association with the Flemish Radio Orchestra.
