Hola Mexico Film Festival opens with Calling an Angel

The 2008 Hola Mexico Film Festival (HMFF) inaugural, presented by the New York International Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), Opening Night USA Premiere of LLAMANDO UN ANGEL (Calling an Angel), directed by Pancho Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez, and Rodolfo Guzman was held at the QUAD Cinema, New York, Wednesday, July 23, 7:30 PM. HMFF Opening Night Fiesta after party commenced at the Gallery Bar, 9:30 PM.

LLAMANDO UN ANGEL (Calling an Angel) is a dark comedy film based on an unhappily married fashion model Fatima (Mónica Dionne) in search of an old boyfriend Angel Flores Fuentes. She periodically calls all three numbers from the white pages; a statistic teacher (Julio Bracho), a revolutionist (Luís Felipe Tovar), and a bridal photographer (Pablo Abitia). The mistaken phone calls dramatically and hysterically changes their lives. I simply can't recall the last time I laughed out loud along with the audience at the movies. It's truly a fantastic film!

LLAMANDO UN ANGEL (Calling an Angel), directed by Pancho Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez, and Rodolfo Guzman | Mexico | 2006 | 78 minutes | Narrative Feature | Spanish w/E.S. | released by Buena Vista International, is winner of the Audience Award, 2008 Guadalajara Mexican Film Festival.
