Heavy Swedish Film presence at the Stockholm Fest

Record Number of Swedish Films at the 19th Edition of the Stockholm International Film Festival Nov. 20-30

With less than two months to go, the Stockholm International Film Festival is gearing up for 11 days of quality film from around the world that includes a record number of Swedish films.

The festival presents nine new Swedish films, of which no less than four features will compete for the 16 pound Bronze Horse in this year´s Stockholm XIX Competition. In addition, the festival has for t¬h¬¬¬e first time ever included a documentary in this section – the world premiere of Swedish director Måns Månsson´s “Mr. Governor ”.

“The quality and international success of Swedish film this past year has been quite impressive. The fact that four out of the 20 films in competition this year are Swedish is a clear indication and reflection of that,” says Festival Director Git Scheynius.

The other competing films are “Grown Ups” directed by Anna Novion, “Involuntary” by Ruben Östlund and Swedish director Johan Renck´s US indie “Downloading Nancy”.

In addition, the festival will present seven recently wrapped, but not yet completed, feature films in their “Work in Progress” section. Here the audience will see clips from the upcoming films and meet the directors in a Q&A session. It will include, amongst others, “Shelter” by Swedish directing duo Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein, starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

The full program will be presented in its entirety at the official press conference on October 22. For further information and to obtain press accreditation please go to www.stockholmfilmfestival.se/press
