Celestial Pictures (Celestial), the Asian motion picture company and operator of pay-TV channels CELESTIAL MOVIES, CELESTIAL MOVIES ASIA, CELESTIAL CLASSIC MOVIES and WaTV, announces today the appointment of Andy Chang as Senior Vice President (SVP), Marketing. Andy's appointment follows the recent addition of film veterans Peter Poon and Rosa Li to the senior management team, signaling the rapid changes Chief Executive Officer Ross Pollack has implemented since he joined the company last September.
In his role as SVP, Marketing, effective 8th March, 2010, Andy will oversee marketing for all of Celestial Pictures' businesses, from theatrical and TV series production and distribution to its pan-regional channels. Andy will also lead Celestial's corporate branding and communication efforts as the company expands in Asia Pacific and globally.
Andy brings to Celestial Pictures a wealth of media marketing experience from his years working at two Hollywood studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. Prior to joining Celestial, Andy was Vice President, Marketing, Asia Pacific of Sony Pictures Television, leading the division's regional marketing efforts for its distribution and production businesses as they achieved tremendous growth in revenue and scope.
Before joining Sony Pictures Television and relocating to Hong Kong, Andy oversaw marketing for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's international television division, based in Los Angeles. At Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Andy worked with broadcasters from around the world to promote the company's key franchises. In addition to the two studios, Andy also held positions in several independent film production and distribution companies.
"Andy will be a great asset to our team. His creativity, resourcefulness and extensive marketing experience make him the ideal executive to lead our marketing and branding efforts. Andy will join a talented team of experienced channels, theatrical and distribution executives as we build upon our vast library of content, and establish Celestial as a preeminent creator and distributor of Asian content around the world," said Ross Pollack, CEO of Celestial Pictures.
